Mummy NCT
Mummy NCT
Your body goes through a lot during pregnancy and childbirth! The Mummy NCT is a post-natal check for new mum’s, to help optimise your body’s recovery after giving birth to your baby. It is a 45 minute assessment. Follow up sessions may be needed if further assessment or treatment is required. It is tailored to your needs and symptoms but can include checking:
- Your functional ability – this includes your posture, strength, balance and breathing
- Your tummy – checking for pain or diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
- Your pelvic health – the strength and function of your pelvis and pelvic floor
- Your lifestyle, medical history and goals
Physiotherapy session: €75

It is usually best to wait until after you are six weeks postnatal but if you are struggling with pain do get in contact sooner.
Yes absolutely! It is never too late to start getting stronger or addressing any symptoms you may have after pregnancy and childbirth.
No. If you are not comfortable with the idea of an internal pelvic exam or if you change your mind during it there is no problem. While an internal exam is the best way to assess the function of the pelvic floor muscles there is some useful assessment and treatment that can take place without an internal exam. It is totally up to you and nothing will take place without your consent.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your baby to the appointment. However, if you do have someone you are able to leave them with for a short while it can make the appointment more productive and easier for you.
The body goes through enormous changes and demands during pregnancy and childbirth. This comprehensive specialist assessment can reassure women that they are on the right track. It can also help you know what you can do to optimise your health during the postnatal period and to guard against issues in the future.
Some women who are symptom free postnatally, find the Mummy NCT useful to help guide them in how to return to exercise or in making sure they are doing pelvic floor exercises correctly to help them optimise their pelvic health and guard against issues like pelvic organ prolapse in the future.
Clothes and shoes that you can move in easily and exercise in are helpful.
